I finally have all of my paperwork for my student visa for Spain. It took two trips to Santa Fe, lots of phone calls and many confusing e-mails to get me there. There are so many things you need to get a student visa.
-Medical Certificate in English and Spanish
-State background check in English and Spanish
-Proof of insurance
-Letter of acceptance
-Letter of accommodation
-Three passport sized photos
-Proof of financial stability
So now I have to book a flight to Houston because they have this inconvenient rule of submitting all paperwork in person. It’s really obnoxious because I’ve had to pay for a license, for a school to accept me as a student and then a weekend trip to Houston on top of travel expenses. Though I feel blessed to have this opportunity it is just financially draining. The only reason I can afford my fees for my student visa is because a lady wrecked my car and I got four grand for it plus I work a lot, moved in with my parents to save, selling anything of value, cut back on drinking and parties. I’ve been giving up a lot of things in preparation for this trip.
I’ve also given up on dating of any sort and basically cutting out everyone from my life that isn’t important. It’s almost become irrelevant to make new friends here because I’m leaving. What’s the point? While this is voluntarily it has become increasingly more depressing to isolate myself.
It’ll be worth it in the end. I just have to remember that. It takes a lot of work to achieve in this world and this is just the process I have to go through to get where I want to be.
