Golan Heights

It was a little over 95 degrees today but in our sweat and exhaustion our birthright group went to a look out point.  This is Mount Bental in the Golan Heights of Israel looking out to Syria.  This was where many battles took place too secure the border.  Currently, Syria is in a bloody civil war claiming many lives.  Today in the distance we could hear bombs going off.  It was a humbling experience.  While our little birthright shorashim group is on our little vacation people are losing their lives.  We can choose to be blissfully unaware or take a moment to pray for those families.
