So I wanted to a post about some random stuff. I’m putting together a plan for what I’ll be doing after Spain. I think if I can put it together properly, it will be really good. So I want to do another little motivational corner to help you and me. I’ve been tearing through book recently and I’ve pulled a few quotes I found inspiring.
“Word hard, know your shit, show your shit, and then feel entitled,”– Why Not Me, by Mindy Kaling This is the guide to building an empire.
“I think people believe in heaven because they don’t like the idea of dying, because they want to carry on living and they don’t like the idea that other people will move in to their house and put their things into the rubbish.”- The Curious Case of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon. I often think people are so afraid of dying they forget to live or just get obsessed with what would happen when they die. Just live, people!
“We are all insects. Groping towards something terrible or divine-” ― The Man in the High Castle By Philip K. Dick This quote is self explanatory.
“We aren’t the things we collect, acquire, read. We are, for as long as we are here, only love. The things we loved. The people we loved. And these, I think these really do live on.” ― The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin I just find this idea beautiful. People are far too materialistic and forget about the little things.
Right now I’m reading Midwife’s Revolt now.
“Kids are still depressed when you dress them up and syrup is still syrup in a sippy cup,” Melanie Martinez “I love this quote because she talks about how people try to live outside their means. Living simply is something I’ve been working towards slowly so this song is very motivational for me. She’s a little pop but she’s so talented. I love “Sippy Cup.” I couldn’t believe she was from The Voice. I’m now obsessed with her. I sort of want her hair as well.
“My name is blurry face and I care what you think,” Twenty One Pilots: I love this quote because we have so many nameless and faceless people on the internet that effect our lives when we shouldn’t care because they are just static.
“It is safe to walk with me where you can read the sky and stars. Safe to walk upon the sea, in my sleep we can go far.” Sopor Aeternus I’m sort of unsure what this song is about. I think it’s about death but it’s beautiful nonetheless.
“Life is like a bed of roses, you take the thorns and you make do. Sometimes you have to hurt for the cause to be reached. But one day you’ll be stronger than all that you beat.” Angel Haze: Hip Hop is not usually described as beautiful and moving but Angel Haze is an incredible poet. She bleeds herself in every verse.
“I’m a grown queen, doing grown things. Tryna find my hand underneath the gold rings.” Brooke Candy: She’s just so damn catchy even though her music is so trashy. I love listening to her before I go to work. It gets me so hyped like I’m just going to murder the day.
As you can see, I have a very diverse taste in music and books. I hope you check out some of these artists and enjoy some new posts about my winter break coming soon.
