DIY Bug Spray for Sensitive Skin

It’s summer time and the mosquitoes are biting!  I love enjoying the warm weather but I hate coming home with giant bug bites everywhere. However, I also didn’t want to cover my entire body with chemicals.  So I did a little research on Pinterest and looked at what was in my bathroom. I figured out a recipe and it’s worked for me during hikes and camping.  Many of these ingredients are things I use in my face wash already.

  • 2 oz Spray Bottle
  • Lavender Oil 20 drops
  • Tea Tree Oil 10 drops
  • Eucalyptus Oil 5 drops
  • 1/4th Apple Cider Vinegar
  • Distilled Water

This recipe is good for sensitive but if you need it to be stronger you can use vodka or rubbing alcohol instead of vinegar.  You can add more tea tree oil and eucalyptus oil too.

There’s plenty of recipes out there! It’s up to your to experiment and see what works for you.  However, I will say if you are going somewhere prone to diseases like Zika, Malaria etc… I can’t suggest using this recipe in place of DEET. But for everyday use in lower risk areas, this has been working great for me.

Let me know if this works for you and what are some of your favourite summer activities?
